Miss Thailand fails to answer her question and misses her chance to score the crown
I finally get to watch this year’s Miss Universe having miss the last few years beauty pageant. It’s always nice to see beautiful women walking that stage.
I didn’t have a favorite going into this pageant show but as always, I have heard a lot of overhype thing about Miss Thailand Maria Lynn Ehren. Rumors has it that she was a second favorite against betters and voters in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the pageant is held there.
First of all congratulation to Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters for being the new Miss Universe 2017. Her first answer was not as great but her second answer was confident with smile emulates her answer. Though, I would have been fine with Miss Jamaica because she was so good. Many probably feel Jamaica was robbed.
Now, the reason why I do this post is talk about Miss Thailand. The support and hype she receives, you do have high expectation. She’s also the first one in a long while to get into top 5. Like I said earlier she was a favorite to win.
She looks pretty enough. However, she lacks the personality and confidence. She doesn’t show enough other than looking great on stage. In the top 5 finalist, they have different questions for each contestant and Miss Venezuela and Miss Thailand did not answer their questions. My sister think Miss Venezuela is too generic in her answer. She is supposed to take a stance about how social media has affect how we judge beauty. Look at Miss South Africa, her answer can be broaden up but she knows her statistic around the world, so she got a point for that.
Miss Thailand totally choked on her question. The question is “What do you think has been the most important social movement of our generation, and why?” I don’t know if she understands the question? Her answer is “I think the most important social movement is we’re having an aging, aging population. But, so the most important movement in our time is definitely the youth. So, the youth is our future, the youth is something we have to invest in because they are the one who is going to look after the earth that we live in.” The host asked for what the biggest social movement was, not for her to give an idea.
You can tell her confidence deflated more after everyone’s questions. She doesn’t smile with confidence but she smiles with sadness. She really mess up in her question because I think she could have a chance with top 3 if she answer her question well. The way she answer her question seems like she wasn’t prepared about any social movement that happens around the world. As a Miss Universe contestant, I think you have to be aware and inform about what is going on in the world to be able to answer these questions.
A lot of the Thai’s comments I read is that her question is harder than the others but I don’t think hers is harder. I just think she was nervous and lacks confidence. She also lacks knowledge about politics or what movement is.
The performance by Fergie. It looks so beautiful with the gowns and the walk.
Miss Japan’s costume is creative! Did not expect that.
