Peter Corp & Ploypan shows off Nong Panther at press conference
He hasn’t opened his eyes to see the world for many days but “Nong Panther” is already hot. “Peter Corp Dyrendal” carries his beloved baby son to show off in front of the mass media. Grinning and barely able to close his mouth, proud to have his first baby son. Walking hand in hand with his wife “Ploy Ploypan” they open their heart about how delighted and impressed they felt the second they saw their baby son for the first time at “Samitivej Hospital Sukkhumvit.”
After delivering your son, how do you feel?
Peter: At first the due date was suppose to be April 1st, but then on the 25th of March Ploy started to feel pain in her stomach so we brought her in to check with the doctor. The pressure was really high, so the doctor recommended surgery. The high pressure can cause swelling making the blood vessels to burst in the head. Also being it’s already close to the due date so we mind as well do a c-section instead of risking and not preparing for something we’re not ready for. During the surgery I was also there, we were holding hands. It’s really scary. I turned over and looked at Ploy from time to time and during surgery Ploy was trembling. I was quite worried. When I looked over to her stomach…I was startled, so I turned around and asked Ploy if she’s ok or not (laughs). But the doctor is incredibly skilled, everything turned out ok. Ploy was really scared. Before going into surgery she told me if anything happens to her for me to take care of Panther (eyes tearing up). Sweat is flowing going into my eyes.
Ploy: His face was really calm. It didn’t show any emotions at all. I was scared because I didn’t think I’d have to go into surgery (c-section). Let me just say ohhh.
Peter: The doctor told me to go with the baby because Ploy will be sedated and put to sleep. I went to see Panther get bathed. Then we saw each other in the ICU recuperation room. By that time her eyes were opened up.
The baby is premature, how is his health?
Peter: Good. He’s incredibly strong and healthy. He’s strong even as a baby. His legs are strong, he’s dancing and everything. His mood is getting better continuously. The first day he was in a bad mood because he didn’t have any milk. He cries really loud. He cried loudest in the stomach. He’s showing signs he’s going to be a singer like his father. It’s possible that he’s going to be tall because he cries really loud (laughs).
How did you feel the first moments after seeing your baby?
Peter: Oho, it’s a feeling that can’t be explained into words. Being a father of another person is so truly tremendous.
How many days will you be staying at the hospital before you take the baby back home?
Peter: I want Ploy to be happy and confident that she’s capable of taking care of the baby. Staying at the hospital during this time is quite convenient and comfortable because the doctor and nurses are helping to take care and make recommendations to us. The hospital staffs are really adorable and taking good care of us.
Is your house ready for when you leave the hospital?
Peter: This is a huge problem because the housekeeper is not well and has left for her own home. Now there is no one at our house we’re still looking for someone new. If everything goes according to plans when we leave the hospital, if the baby’s mom gets better and is strong and healthy it’s not necessary to have a nurse from the hospital come with us. It’s dependent on how confident Ploy also. It won’t take her long to adapt and become competent.
Seeing the baby’s face how was it? Who does he look like?
Ploy: At first I was startled because his face was purple, red and bruised. This is my child?
Peter: He’s handsome (laughs). As soon as they finished bathing him he was handsome. What’s similar to the both of us is his really wide mouth (laughs). When he’s crying or drinking milk his mouth is really wide. The first two days there wasn’t much milk. The milk came late. It only came last night. He’s trying his best to breastfeed but crying the whole time. I saw this and there was nothing I can do to help, so it’s torturous and made me feel really uneasy. But now he’s getting to drink consistently.
Ploy: We’re going to try our best to breastfeed him for as long as possible.
Let’s ask about the name Panther, what’s the origin of that name?
Peter: Panther comes from Ploypan and Peter. Combining the two names together comes up with Panther. It’ll be his nickname and official name.
Do you plan on having another child?
Peter: Yes I do.
Ploy: Ask me first.
Peter: I’ll secretly have one soon.
Ploy: How are you secretly going to have one?
Peter: Soon you’ll know (laughs). I’ll have to say just one for now. If I want a girl I’ll aim left.
Ploy: If you’re not rich it’s necessary to have a second child na
Peter: By chance I’m already rich (laughs)
Do you plan on having your second child right away?
Peter: Of course I would want another one. Right now we’re waiting on Ploy to recover first. We want two kids but just one for now. We want the second child to be a girl.
Being new parents, did you seek advice from anyone?
Ploy: We’ve been asking since I became pregnant, I asked everyone if they have any advice. I have lots of people around to help me out all the time. I have grandma helping out. There are a lot of people.
Will you be taking care of the child yourself?
Ploy: We’re going to try to take care of him ourselves. Who would take care of our child better than us? We’re going to do it ourselves. But in the beginning we’re going have someone help guide us because this is something completely new to us, both mom and dad. The baby just got delivered too.
Peter: We read a lot of books on it. Also my sister gave me lots of advice because she’s had two kids already.
We see that you already set up an IG for the Nong
Peter: That’s right. His mom is the one that set it up for him. I think we’re both equally crazy for him. Nong’s ig is panther_corp. Right now there are so many people following it, even though it hasn’t been many days or many pictures uploaded. You will get to see his updates on his development often.
You can say that your first baby boy completes the family and makes it perfect
Ploy: Very much so.
Peter: The two of us re already really compatible, however now with the child it’s a complete circle.
Ploy: The other day I was talking with P’Ter that it’s no longer just the two of us; there are three of us now, so we can’t just take care of each other. This third person is really important, we have to raise and take care of him for a long time to come.
