Review: La Ong Dao EP 1-6
To start off, I did not know or remember that “Now Tisanart” and “Om Akapan” even have a drama together. So, when I saw it on the news was when I update on the airing date of the drama in another post.
I heard that this is a boring classic drama. I don’t think I have ever seen the old version. I remember “Anne Sirium” was in one of the remakes. But I couldn’t never get past episode 1. I decided to watch this 2017 La Ong Dao because I do want to see Om and Now. I am watching this with an open mind because I don’t want to stop half-way through the drama just like many in the past.
Ok let’s begin with the story.
Korakot Benjaron, is the sole heir to Dr. Benjaron’s estate and monies. Even if La Ong Dao was raised by him, he never legally adopted her. Before Dr. Benjaron’s death, he wrote a will that Korakot has to married La Ong Dao to inherit all 600 million baht as well as everything else; unless Dao is the one who backs out of the wedding. If Dao is the one who didn’t want to married him, he could receive all inheritance right away if 1. Dao married someone else. 2. If Dao is not married to someone else but is the one who did not want to get married, they have to wait for 3 years for Korakot to inherit everything.
Returning from oversea, Korakot has not seen the grown up Dao but he did have an impression of her being ugly and fat and that sticks with him. Also, in the years Dao grew up under his home, they NEVER REALLY see each other. I don’t know if the father purposely arrange this or because both are studying in separate country. Korakot made many mistakes in the beginning that led to Dao’s cold and estrange feeling for him.
First of all, I think she liked or crush on him when they were young. She knows how he looks like. In the beginning she mention something about recognizing him anywhere and wonder if he will recognize her.
But anyways, before meeting Dao, Korakot is already trying to find ways to get out of the arrange marriage. His mistakes is 1. He hired his lawyer friend to court Dao. If he succeed marrying Dao, Korakot will give him plenty of money. Plus, he is willing to pay the lawyer friend monthly to do his courting. 2. He called Dao in the middle of the night to do some negotiating. He didn’t sound insulting but his words is enough to insult Dao to the core. He offered Dao money to get out of the arrange marriage. Told her that doesn’t she think it’s impossible for the two of them? He talks all crap about them not matching and etc. Dao feels insulted with him offering money. So she told him that she would not married him because this is a way of helping him to make him feel comfortable with no worries. However, she would just not married anyone just so he can have his money sooner.
From that night on, Dao basically shunned everything that he does for her. On his first time seeing her, he basically fell for her beauty (cuz of the slow motion HAHA). He was cordial with her but she acts more like a guest and a servant to him. All words were that she would do it if it’s upon his request because she is just a guest in his house. To him, he considers her a family member. She is really is cold to him. Anything he offers, she won’t take it because she doesn’t even consider herself his family. She plans that when she leave the house, she would leave ONLY with things that belongs to her. Everything else given to her by the Benjaron family is just a lease. She has allowance but she never pick it up. She lies to the lawyer that she wants him to be her banker and that she will come get it when it accumulates in bulk of money.
Korakot has a girlfriend in here, Padachamai, who is a famous pop star. Korakot loves her a lot and would do anything for her. Give her money, buy her a house or even buying her a ring. During these time, he have to keep loaning money from the lawyer and the money in the safe with Dao. Remember, Korakot hasn’t inherit everything yet. He is only living in name until they hit the 3 years arrangement.
His girlfriend is the most annoying person. I don’t know how he even loves her. He told his friend that she wasn’t like this when they first met. He is just waiting for her to return to the same person. I don’t believe him one bit. Can a person really change that much? If she isn’t fame hungry in the beginning she wouldn’t be. She returns to Thailand not because of him. She returns to accept a job that was offered to her. But he believes her that she came back for him. I actually laugh at his stupidity because he acts like a dumbass who doesn’t have anything better to do but wait around for his girlfriend. That one scene where she went to do her hair, he actually wait for hours and hours in the car. Can he go out and do something in between instead of getting angry because she was taking her sweet time in the salon?
I also didn’t like that within 6 episodes, we lack interactions between our main couple. When he meets Dao, Dao is always short with him or pick a fight. He tries to change and be respectful but she shunned him like she wants nothing to do with him. Then all he does is get angry and jealous when she talks to any man. He has no right. He forfeited that right. He claims her as his sister though and that he is just worried about her well-being.
I hope to see more interaction because without interaction between the main couple, how can a drama peak? I feel like the pace is fast but at the same time slow because we don’t see enough of them together. They probably have 2-3 scenes having conversation with each other.
I also don’t know if his lawyer friend is serious about courting her. Maybe it’s just his acting that is not giving out the right reactionary. I feel like he knows that Korakot likes Dao but yet at the same he feels confused.
I do like Dao as a character. I think she is a little dull but she is a really strong woman. She goes by her words and never soften for Korakot. He has to pay the price for rejecting her. lol She told Her Royal Highness that she would never married someone who rejected her. She is embarrassed enough as it is that she could barely look into his eyes when she talks to him. She is not hurt that he rejected her but is more hurt that her father put her in this situation with Korakot to be rejected. She even yelled at Korakot that isn’t her fault she is in this situation. She feels disgusted for being in this kind of situation. The conversation she has with Padachamai was on point. I’m glad Korakot takes Dao’s side on this.
Actually, he takes Dao’s side on everything. Padachamai can’t even utter a negative words on Dao. He kind of worship the ground she walks on. lol And he regretted rejecting the marriage with Dao per his word with his Dad’s coffin.
I don’t think Om is doing a good job at all. He was screaming most of the time in the first 4-5 episode. He just soften up a bit now because he is nicer to Dao, so he is not screaming as he was before. But Om has deteriorate a lot. He was so good in Ching Nang and was ok in his other drama but this one, he is really bad. But he got some credit because his outfits are on point here. lol
Overall, I think it is a little dull but I’ll keep watching it to see how she softens or if she will even forgive him. Or how he will go about winning her heart. Even if she loves him, I don’t know if she will lower herself to be with him after all he has said to her in the past. Maybe there will be a lot of groveling.
